Safe, Healthy and Respectful Workplaces

Central to Idemitsu’s philosophy is the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. This principle underpins every element of our business approach. Idemitsu Australia and its group of companies also believe in knowing, understanding and effectively managing risk within our operations.

Our commitment

To deliver on these beliefs, Idemitsu Australia will:

  • Foster a workplace culture that promotes accountability for behaviour and encourages proactive management of safety and health.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and respectful working environment to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses for all employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Establish, implement and maintain a Health and Safety Management System aligned with AS/NZS ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model.
  • Comply with all relevant legislative requirements, recognised standards and codes of practice.
  • Set health and safety objectives with realistic and achievable targets to measure performance and promote continual improvement.
  • Maintain effective communication and consultation mechanisms for health and safety matters with our employees, contractors and external stakeholders.

Industry engagement

Idemitsu Australia is an active member of:

  • Minerals Council of Australia
  • The NSW Minerals Council
  • Queensland Resources Council


We participate in health and safety committees and working groups within these councils. As part of the Minerals Council of Australia, Idemitsu also supports the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative. Additionally, Idemitsu Australia reports annually to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). More information can be found via the https://www.wgea.gov.au.
