Muswellbrook Coal Community
Muswellbrook Coal Company (MCC) had been part of the Muswellbrook community for more than 115 years of mining operations, providing economic benefits, employment opportunities and supporting community groups, and businesses along with participation in local cultural and community events through sponsorship, donations, and in-kind activities, such as:
- Launching an initiative with St Joseph’s Aberdeen School to help their agriculture students learn about animal husbandry, by providing them with access to agricultural land to run cattle.
- Sponsorship of regional events such as the Muswellbrook Show, Muswellbrook Rotary, Endeavour Group, Girls Academy Program-Role Models and Leaders Australia and the Muswellbrook Cup Race Day.
Community Consultative Committee
During its mining operations MCC kept the community up-to-date with mining operations, environmental initiatives and community matters through an independent Community Consultative Committee (CCC).
The Committee were provided regular information on the mine operations while ensuring the views of residents, local businesses, and community groups were considered in decision-making processes where the community had the potential to be impacted. Members were involved in the review of environmental monitoring data and were kept up-to-date on mining operations through presentations and site visits.
With the completion of mining operations Muswellbrook Coal held its last meeting of the Community Consultative Committee in November 2025.
Minutes of all CCC meetings are publicly available on our website. Minutes prior to 2020 are not available on the website. If you want access to these minutes, please contact us via the “contact us” page.
Please call the Community & Environmental Contact Line (1800 600 205) if you wish to raise an environmental concern or have an enquiry about the ongoing activities at the Muswellbrook Site.
