Muswellbrook Coal Company (MCC) has a proud 116-year history in the Muswellbrook area, maintaining strong relationships with the community and contributing to the region’s economy through employment opportunities and supporting local businesses.
With underground coal mining commencing at Muswellbrook Coal Mine in 1907 and open-cut operations in 1944 — Muswellbrook Coal Mine reached the end of an era with all active mining operations ceasing in 2022.
Idemitsu Australia is now rehabilitating the land and has developed a range of productive post-mining land use options including a pumped hydropower project in partnership with energy producer and retailer AGL, and a large-scale solar farm in partnership with ESCO Pacific.
